Compacto da BMW será o primeiro de grande escala a usar fibra de carbono

O projeto Megacity da BMW, que deve dar origem à releitura do Romi-Isetta, contará com o primeiro veículo de grande escala a utilizar fibra de carbono. Como define a própria marca alemã, o veículo será o primeiro com “preço ajustado” a contar com este composto em grandes quantidades em sua estrutura.

A fibra de carbono garante ao veículo maior resistência e menor peso. O uso deste componente no compacto deve ajudar no uso do material para outros modelos da marca. Aliás, esta novidade marcará a estreia de uma nova divisão na BMW. A empresa não diz quando o novo carro chegará, limitando-se a dizer que ele chega “na primeira metade da próxima década”.

First Official Post on AD

Welcome to Ascent to Decadence.

My name is Ben. I’m an Appalachian State grad, photographer and graphic designer living in Raleigh, NC. However, I spend most of my time neck deep in cars and music. I can get into just about any passionately made automobile on earth (disclaimer: get out of here China and Korea. This doesn’t concern you and your design ripoffs.) Same goes for music. Anyone who genuinely loves what they do and pours out their soul through music, I will probably like. Outlaw country, metal, opera, polka, classical, progressive rock, folk music, or whatever. Just save me the rap, pop and pop country. That stuff is downright terrible to listen to AND destructive to the institution of music. On the subject of music, I have to give credit where credit is due. The blog title is taken from a song by Sahg. It is a delicious track. Also for those of you who still purchase CDs, the album artwork courtesy of Martin Kvamme is quite beautiful as well.

On to my plans for this blog. I’m going to talk about anything and everything. I follow car news very closely and I spread links around everywhere I go. I decided one day I wanted to share my opinion on them. Same goes for music. I’m listening to everything from alt-rock, to outlaw country, to progressive rock,to black metal, to opera and any combination of them. If I hear something fantastic, I’ll write about it. My favorite musician is Ihsahn (born Vegard Tveitan and is of Emperor fame). He’s an all around fantastic guy with an incredible musical vision who draws upon a wide variety of influences, both musically and literary, to his music. On top of that he teaches music at local schools and uses his own money to fund music festivals for young bands. I myself have 10 years of piano experience, but recently picked up the drums and I’ve been learning my way around that.

I also attend a variety of events related to the topic of the internal combustion engine. I’ve seen everything from the Volvo trucks manufacturing plant in Sweden, to rally racing in Spain, to Formula 1 at Silverstone, to NASCAR in North Carolina. I grew up in a NASCAR and Sprint car dominated family, but my heart really lies in German cars. Specifically older German cars. In my opinion, modern cars have lost a lot of their original character in the ever increasing consumer demand for safety and sameness. Most cars these days if you take the badge off of it, no one will know what it is. Unlike, say a 1970’s Porsche, or Alfa Romeo, or Jaguar. Car design is all about who can be the most techno-futuristic and throw as much useless bullshit in there as you can to cater to laziness and stupidity. Many cars are going to start coming out without dipsticks. I personally drive an E39 BMW 540i 6-speed and worship the V8 engine religiously. My mom has a 2009 Mini Cooper S Works and we frequently go to Mini gatherings. Dad has a BMW R1200R motorcycle which he greatly enjoys.

I’m also a big fan of animals and the outdoors and I do a variety of activities of both, which I’ll post about. I will also try to do beer reviews as well. I love to drink different beers and I prefer porters, stouts and double bocks. Same goes for movies, but good movies are harder to come by these days.

Ride Report: Route 22 & Far Hills NJ

The most fun you can have with *all* your clothes on.

 

I was kind of pissed that there was no simple, accurate resource for good motorcycle roads.  I asked around and was told that 22, 202, and 27 all lead to good roads.  Without much more than that, we headed to Plainfield, NJ and had a late lunch and with the web browsers on our phones, picked out a general route.

 

I had the lil’lady with me, 2-up on the back of the Road King Classic.  And boy, that bike needs a name.  I want to call her Bessie, because she’s like a big black whale.  I’ll try that name now.
And Mike was with us on his Sportster, a bike I’ll try calling Hoggo in this entry.

I realize my ‘readership’ is pretty low, and that’s fine, this blog is informational beyond all.  But if no one’s really reading, then no one can complain if I say certain crazy things. And that sound good, so I’ll also start that now.

ANYWAY,

We ate at that subshop just before Plainfield Ave meets 27.  They had fresh ingredients and everything was very good, but nothing out of the ordinary.  Mike pulled up and met us inside, though we didn’t hear Hoggo approach, and he ordered a tuna sub.  Then touch the map and go, uh oh, cha-cha-ching.  So yeah, we got subs and hit the road.  Hotsteppin’.  You know..

Took Plainfield across 27 until it broke into a fork, then went right.  Stopped for gas.  I got premium.  First time in my life I bought premium.  The 6-gallon tank really rocks.  My Volusia’s only a 4.5 gallon, I believe.  Normally I find myself putting in about 3 gallons, sometimes 3.5 – now, under 1/4 of a tank, I was putting in almost 5 gallons.  Cool!  I’m sure that gas will last, too.

At the fork we went right, and ended up on Washington Ave, which we took until we got to 22.

There were cars in the way, and Mike split to pass them all and ended up waiting for us as we followed the cars in front of us.  He called me out on it and I pointed at my odometer and said “70, give me a break!”  He just liked to tease me.   I know he was curious about what the bike could do, being a whole 500cc larger than his (though twice the weight).  I’m happy to report that we have yet to settle it.

Bessie was gentle with bumps in those old roads.  At speed, there was no loss of confidence on my part taking some tight turns, going around cars and pulling off and back onto the road (we double-checked the maps).  These were residential roads, speed limit 35mph, and not that many cars as it was a Sunday afternoon.

When Washington Ave met 22, there was a great incline heading up a mountain in front of us, but we turned left at the lights and followed 22 for a mile or two: it was our chance to open up, even though I definitely was wondering what was up that mountain.  Figure Mike was too because later that’s all we did.

So on 22, Mike was putting along nicely at about 40 or so, still accelerating away from the light (and 22 is very straight and was mostly empty in our direction) when I cranked the throttle open and flung by with the annoying and artificial whooping of the engine.  It felt good to get that far open, cracking 80 after two seconds, but that was when I noticed that the performance was dampened very much by the presence of my loving and beautiful passenger.  She was dead weight, gah!!!  I should have been going much faster.  I’ll get around to speeding recklessly when alone though, no worries.

We putted along 22, catching some lights, not really seeing the appeal (22 was supposed to lead us to 206 (or 202?), which should be a great twisty road).  We came up on a wide open field off to the right, and it was there I spotted maybe 7 or 8 deer, grazing in the tall grass and doing deer things in the low woods.  So I took the first turn off on the right and we went through a quarry.

I should have taken a photo at the quarry.  We turned off 22 and were immediately greeted by a “road closed to through traffic” sign that we ignored.  We rode slowly over the gravel and gravel-strewn pavement.  We saw no deer, but the quarry was a real sight.  There were hills torn in half and strips of discoloration all across the big mounds – trailor or backhoe marks or something.  Was fun to trespass a little bit.

At the end of the quarry road, we came out before a regular-enough road, making a T with it.  There were two other bikers there – one riding an old road king himself, and one riding some kind of chopper.  I noticed they were young, like Mike and me, and one was dark skinned and the other looked korean.  Very harold and kumar.  I asked, “What’s good?” and they told us to head left, not right, and to make a right at the end of that road.  Said it was good roads.  We thanked them and continued.

We checked both ways for traffic – the T intersection was at a curve in the road, but the woods were cleared for a ways on the side of that road so we could see very well.  With no one coming, we struck out onto the road and Mike slowed immediately and I matched his pace.  We were doing about 25 in 2nd gear as he counted down… 4, 3, 2… he put his hands back on the bars and cranked hard.  I followed but he simply pulled straight ahead faster than I could. Every second he put another few lengths between us until he approached the next big curve ahead and there he slowed.

We took the turns gracefully, splitting up immediately with him in front and me at least 40 feet behind.  I trusted my brakes but not my tires – cant’ tell if all the film is off those newly-minted rubbers.  I should say I took the turns gracefully, or we referring to the bike and myself (and the lil lady), because Mike was a freakin’ animal.  And I can’t blame him, I would be too if I were on my old bike.  But I was trying to be respectful of my own unknowable ignorances and, of course, trying to not freak out the lady with any stunts.  At least, not until I know what we can do.

We rode those good roads and stopped at the ones that had sharp inclines – no better excuse to rev up and no better way to feel those beasts pulling under your ass.  We came on a suggested-10-mph turn, a very sharp hairpin, and because we had been looking ahead we made it without incident, despite the SUV in the oncoming lane falling far over the double yellow.  Lucky there we weren’t daydreaming.

We found some really, really big houses up in the sticks.  4-car garages, 3-wing structures, guest house in back type stuff.  I wondered what they cost – it’s the boonies, after all, but probably not more than 15 minutes from 78, that awful mountain highway.  They need to finish resurfacing that bitch.

The leaves were glorious.  I hate that I didn’t stop to take any pictures, even with the elevation and the foliage.  Our plan for the day got fouled and we were down to only 2 hrs of light for this ride, so we just kept at it.

My ride was equally glorious.  It was this Sunday I discovered that 2nd gear is truly the sweet spot, at least until I get the bike tuned (to stop the pinging – see here for an example).  I found the handling to be incredible – so, so much better than anything else I’ve ridden in my 2.5 years.  I want a little rumble, a little soul from the exhaust, but I’ll get there soon.  I put my feet up on the highway pegs on the way home, riding the Garden State for 20 minutes.  I love it, I love the feel of it, I love the way she rides.  I like that the auxiliary lamps cast such a bright net riding in the dark, and I like that the blinkers work (My Volusia’s had some troubles…).

I’m not 100% with the fact that the slowspeed handling feels like holding a toddler by the arms rather than by the chest.  Let me try that again.  Ever pick up a 5-yr old and swing him by the arms? You hold hands, or if you’re smart, you hold his wrists and you spin around, dragging him through the air?  When you first start, or when you are slowing to stop, that feeling like the weight is just far away from you – too far to control perfectly – that’s what the Heritage bars feel like on the Road King, that’s what Mike’s drag bars feel like on his Sportster, that’s what the Deluxe and the Wide Glide and the stock Road King feel like too.  That’s Harley’s frame/fork design.  The Volusia doesn’t feel like that, the V-star doesn’t feel like that, the Ducati doesn’t feel like that, and the BMW doesn’t feel like that.  (How is it I’ve never been on a Triumph?)  It’s not a complaint, it’s an observation, and I’m going to get used to it.

That plus the stupid exhaust note are on my list.

The rest of it … god, I just melt when I get on this bike.

I spoke to Mike about the ride, saying it was great to take all those twisties for 2 hours and to tour through the leaves up on the mountain and all.  He said I only thought it was “great” rather than “acceptable” because I hadn’t had many good roads.  And he’s right, I’m very casual, I’m more about strolling than performing.  But I love riding hard, I just always tend to have the choice between that (solo) or the equally wonderful stroll with the lady, drinking and eating and having a lazy time.

He said his work schedule was changing and he’d have Saturdays off in a few weeks for the next few months, until summer. Said we’d do some cold weather riding, taking the day, and go into the Catskills of NY (near where we grew up) as soon as possible.  He said then I could properly use the word “great” on a ride.

But this Sunday, short as it was, well, it was a hell of a ride.  And then we saw and fought a huge dragon, went back to the house and had steak and shrimp on the grill, and watched an old Simpsons episode. Then we won some money.

Yup, crazy.

New Goods

Is it not just brilliant when you order something and when it comes, you get to unwrap it and it is like your birthday, but only this time you know what it is and it is also something you actually want. The only thing which has the ability to top that feeling is if you have bought more than one thing from different places and they all arrive at the same time. A wonderful feeling.

The past couple of weeks have been spent waiting for some things to arrive, and it was only today (or yesterday, depending on whether or not I post this on the Sunday or the Monday) that I had the opportunity to pick them up from home and then open them. It just so happens that they all relate to design in one form or another so I thought I would share what I got.

1. Bang & Olufsen A8 earphones – A few weeks ago when my old pair of earphones died, I thought I would treat myself with something that I have wanted for a very long time, and it just so happens to be my first foray into products from the Danish company. Already having used them extensively, I can say they are extremely comfortable to wear and have great sound, also they have exquisite detail. I may post something more in depth about the earphones and/or B&O at a later date.

2. Objectified – a DVD about the complex relationship people have with manufactured products. Having known about this film almost since its website appeared on the internet, I leapt at the chance to pre-order it. I have watched it already and it really does provide a unique insight into design and the designers working on products we use everyday, especially the interview or segment with Jonathan Ive from Apple.

3. T-shirts – Having taken part in a competition in the Final Gear forums to design a t-shirt (a competition they hold every 6 months or so), I was lucky enough to have 2 of my designs made in to t-shirts where only 150 or so people worldwide will wear them. A very limited run and I am glad to say that I am very pleased with both of my shirts which I did get for free. One design is based on outlines of different iconic cars, so the Ferrari F2007, Porsche 911 GT3, a Mini and a Ford GT40, the second shirt was a play on a fun feature of an early Top Gear episode where the differences between Oversteer and Understeer were being explained using toy cars.

4. Light Organ – I think I mentioned this in my last post, but this piece of equipment is to help with the radio project on my University course. The purpose of the light organ is to flicker the light or a set of lights to sound or music. This is the basis of my radio design, or it is now, and it should make a very effective looking radio. One thing which I personally am not looking forward to is having to solder all of the components onto the circuit board myself, so I’m glad I bought two, just in case.

BMW revela métodos de poupar combustível

A BMW informou que está investindo em uma série de tecnologias que aproveitam o calor gerado pelo motor para reduzir o consumo de combustível e a emissão de poluentes. Segundo a empresa alemã, em média, apenas 1/3 da energia gerada na queima do combustível é utilizada para mover o veículo. Os outros 2/3 são expelidos em forma de calor pelo sistema de escape e radiador do veículo.

Uma das formas que os engenheiros da montadora estão desenvolvendo para aproveitar melhor o combustível é evitar que o motor esfrie, uma vez que, segundo a BMW, cada grau celsius a mais de diferença entre a temperatura do motor e o ambiente diminui o consumo de combustível em 0,2%. Tal método (que causa estranhamento, uma vez que estamos habituados a evitar o superaquecimento do motor) inclui novos componentes e placas isolantes que cobrem o bloco do motor.

Outro método de aproveitamento da queima do combustível é a utilização da alta temperatura do sistema de escape – que gira em torno de 300º a 900º celsius – com um gerador termoelétrico, diminuindo a exigência do alternador, que, por conta do atrito de sua correia, diminui a potência do motor. A economia de combustível com esse sistema pode atingir 2% dependendo de variáveis como a quantidade de sistemas eletrônicos que o modelo utilizar.

O terceiro método divulgado pela BMW também visa a utilização da alta temperatura do escape para aquecer o câmbio, que ao atingir a sua temperatura de trabalho em menor tempo aumenta a vida útil e diminui o consumo de combustível por conta do menor atrito. Também é cogitada a possibilidade de conectar condutores no escapamento para aquecer o interior do veículo em locais frios, dispensando a utilização do climatizador.

A empresa visa também aumentar a temperatura de trabalho de seus propulsores movidos a diesel para gerar maior potência, além de poder utilizar o calor concentrado no sistema de escape.

50 de ani de MINI

Anul asta MINI a sarbatorit 50 ani de la crearea marcii, asa ca BMW Romania si Automobile Bavaria au sarbatorit marca printr-un eveniment de trei zile dedicat proprietarilor si pasionatilor de MINI. Am avut onoarea sa particip la event din partea BMWBlog, asa ca am fost cumva privilegiata Bine-nteles ca am stat acolo de dimineata pana seara in fiecare din cele trei zile fiindca a fost prima oara cand am participat la un eveniment de acest gen si totul a fost nou si fascinant. In plus nu ma puteam dezlipi de langa circuitul de carting unde era un spectacol continuu: curse cu MINIs condimentate cu multa adrenalina, scrasnete de roti, drifturi, fum, miros de cauciuc incins, tot tacamul Si sa nu uit de experienta mega-fantastica reprezentata de mai multe ture pe circuit in MINIs conduse de Claudiu David, pilot de raliuri si pilot de teste pentru BMW. Nu pot sa zic decat: breathtaking!

Ok, deci in caz ca nu a fost prea clar pana acum, mi-a placut enorm Despre event am scris mai in detaliu pe BMWBlog.ro, sunt acolo si o multime de fotografii si filmulete, e si interviul pe care i l-am luat lui Claudiu, in care ne povesteste despre pasiunea lui pentru pilotaj si pentru BMW, precum si despre planurile sale legate de scoala de pilotaj pe care a pornit-o anul asta. Ce tin neaparat sa spun aici e ca pe langa experienta unica traita, am cunoscut oameni extraordinari: din echipa BMW, din randul proprietarilor de MINI-care oricum formeaza o comunitate foarte speciala, si nu in ultimul rand din media. Si am mai invatat ca oamenii, fie ei bloggeri, jurnalisti, oameni din televiziune sau PR, sunt mai intai de toate OAMENI. Si ca asta e tot ce conteaza

Ii sunt foarte recunoscatoare lui Horatiu Boeriu, fondatorul BMWBlog, atat pentru ocazia de a participa si de a-i reprezenta la eveniment, cat si pentru sprijinul si sfaturile oferite constant, lui Alex Seremet (@BMWRO) pentru tot ajutorul acordat (pe langa multe lucruri legate de masini am invatat de la Alex chiar si o serie de tehnici foto super faine si de efect), intregii echipe BMW Romania, si nu in ultimul rand lui Claudiu David si echipei lui, pentru ca m-au primit in gasca lor si pentru ca au produs un show extraordinar.

LEON VS GOLF

Golf GTI und Seat Leon haben den gleichen Motor unter der Haube. Doch Seat bietet die Rennsemmel günstiger an. Doch kann die spanische Alternative das gleiche bieten wie das Wolfsburger Original?

Ist der wirklich neu? Man muss schon einen zweiten Blick auf den upgedateten Leon werfen, denn auf den ersten fallen die Änderungen kaum auf. Ein paar Retuschen an Front, Heck und Außenspiegeln – viel mehr hat sich außen nicht getan. Die Änderungen im Cockpit springen da schon eher ins Auge. Ein ziemlich billig wirkendes Interieur war immer die Schwäche des kompakten Seat und das hat sich mit dem Facelift nur zum Teil geändert. Zwar fallen schönere Bedienungselemente als bisher ins Auge, etwa ein neuer Lichtschalter und vor allem die neue Klima-Kontrolle – die war bisher mit ihrem simplen Display sehr spartanisch. Nun gibt es praktische und hübschere Drehregler. Auch die Fernbedienungsregler am Lenkrad wurden erneuert und sind jetzt komfortabler zu bedienen als beim bisherigen Modell. Doch in Sachen Materialanmutung und Liebe zum Detail bleibt Seat noch immer eine Stufe hinter dem VW-Interieur zurück.

Neues gibt es auch unter der Haube. Leon FR und Golf GTI teilen sich den gleichen Motor. Der aufgeladene Vierzylinder mit 1984 Kubikzentimetern Hubraum leistet jetzt 155 kW/211 PS und entwickelt ein maximales Drehmoment von 280 Newtonmetern. Er gibt sich drehfreudig und liefert kraftvollen Vortrieb in allen Lebenslagen, wobei sich Vibrationen und Lautstärke in Grenzen halten.

Hohe Drehzahlen braucht der Motor nicht – schon bei weniger als 2000 Touren treibt er gut voran, ab 3000 Umdrehungen geht dann die Post ab. Den Durchschnittsverbrauch gibt Seat mit 7,6 Litern pro 100 Kilometer an. Geschaltet wird mit einem knackigen Sechsganggetriebe oder optional mit einem Sechsgang-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (DSG). Beim Fahrwerk ist eine betont straffe Abstimmung Seats Markenzeichen. Mit dem Facelift hat Seat den Leon nun eine Spur komfortabler abgestimmt, da er bisher von vielen Kunden als etwas arg hart empfunden wurde. Dem Fahrkomfort kommen auch beim FR die weicheren Federn zugute. Gleichzeitig lässt der Spanier in Kurven die nötige Straffheit nicht vermissen. Er gibt sich jedoch bei schnellen Lastwechseln eine Spur nervöser als der GTI und hat trotz serienmäßigen elektronischen Sperrdifferenzials an der Vorderachse etwas häufiger Probleme damit, seine geballte Kraft auf die Straße zu bringen. Ein adaptives Fahrwerk wie im GTI gibt es beim Leon nicht. Beim Gewicht hat der 1,33 Tonnen schwere Seat keinen Vorteil gegenüber dem GTI, er bringt sogar ein paar Kilogramm mehr auf die Waage. Im Spurt von 0 auf 100 km/h kann der Golf dem Seat zwei Zehntel abnehmen – der GTI schafft ihn in 6,9 Sekunden (FR: 7,1 Sekunden).

Der Leon FR kostet mit Schaltgetriebe 25.690 Euro (Golf GTI: 27.400 Euro), für die DSG-Version werden 27.290 Euro fällig (GTI: 29.275 Euro). Zur Serienausstattung des FR gehören unter anderem elektrische Außenspiegel und Fensterheber, Tempomat, Sportsitze, Lederlenkrad, CD-Radio, Klimaautomatik sowie Nebelscheinwerfer mit Abbiegelicht-Funktion. Die Ausstattung des GTI ist ähnlich, allerdings gönnt Wolfsburg seinen Kunden noch Sitzheizung und eine akustische Einparkhilfe.

Ein Preisvergleich mit anderen Rennsemmeln: Der Ford Focus ST (225 PS) kostet 25.850 Euro, der Opel Astra OPC (240 PS) 30.500 Euro, der Peugeot 207 RC (175 PS) 21.250 Euro und der Mini John Cooper Works (211 PS) 28.700 Euro.

Die Wahl zwischen Golf und Leon hat man übrigens auch bei sportlichen Dieselmodellen: Der Leon 2.0 TDI CR (26.690 Euro) mit 125 kW/170 PS hat den gleichen Zweiliter-Commonrail-Diesel unter der Haube wie der Golf GTD (27.745 Euro) und wird entweder mit 6-Gang-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe oder einem manuellen Sechsganggetriebe kombiniert. Im Vergleich zu den rauen Pumpe-Düse-Aggregaten, die Seat immer noch im Programm hat, ist der neue Motor in Sachen Laufruhe eine echte Verbesserung. Und während die restliche Dieselpalette auf der Euro 4-Norm hocken bleibt (abgesehen vom 105 PS-Diesel mit DSG), erreicht das moderne Commonrail-Aggregat Euro 5.

Das Top-Modell im Leon-Programm bleibt der 240 PS starke Cupra. Vom Golf VI gibt es noch keine Entsprechung – ein R-Modell dürfte jedoch nicht lange auf sich warten lassen. BMW 1er als Gebrauchtwagen oder neues Auto

Mit der BMW 1er-Reihe positionierten die Münchner Autobauer 2004 ein neues Fahrzeugmodell auf dem Markt, um sich der gewachsenen Konkurrenz durch den Audi A3, Toyota Prius, SEAT Leon und den Alfa Romeo 145 zu erwehren. Unter den internen Bezeichnungen E81, E82, E87 und E88 bietet BMW insgesamt vier Karosserievarianten für die neuen 1er -Modelle an: drei- und fünftürige Schrägheck-Limousinen, ein zweitüriges Coupé und ein Cabriolet mit Stoffverdeck. Bisher ist insbesondere die BMW 1er E87-Reihe, die fünftürige Limousine , bei den Kunden sehr gut angekommen. Man hofft aber, dass das neue Modell, der 1er BMW Cabrio , genauso reißenden Absatz findet.

Anfang 2007 wurde die BMW 1er- Edition überarbeitet, wobei vor allem hinsichtlich der Motorisierung einiges verändert wurde. Jedes Modell hat nun mehr PS anzubieten als sein jeweiliger Vorgänger. Möglich geworden ist dies durch das BMW EfficientDynamics-Technologiepaket. Der 1er BMW verbraucht weniger Kraftstoff und produziert weniger CO2 bei gleichzeitiger Leistungssteigerung. Bewirkt wird dies unter anderem durch eine Start-Stopp-Funktion, Bremsenergierückgewinnung und Benzindirekteinspritzung bzw. neue Dieselmotoren. Durch diese Maßnahmen benötigt das neue Auto BMW 1er einen Liter weniger Sprit auf 100 Kilometer als sein Vorgänger. Angekündigt wurden die neuen 1er-Modelle im März 2007 durch eine BMW 1er Limited Edition. Die auf nur 2.000 Exemplare limitierte Edition ist mit einem M-Sportpaket ausgestattet.

Die kleinste Motorisierungsvariante der neuen Modellreihe ist der 122 PS starke BMW 1er 116i , der allerdings nur in den Limousinenvarianten erhältlich ist. Für das BMW 1er Coupé und das Cabriolet bietet der Münchner Hersteller unter anderem einen 218 PS starken 125i-Motor und einen 306 PS starken 135i-Motor an. Für Dieselliebhaber stehen zwei Motoren zur Verfügung, die in jede Variante eingebaut werden können. Der BMW 1er 120d erreicht bei einem 2.0-Liter-Hubraum 177 PS, der BMW 1er 123d bei gleichem Hubraum sogar 204 PS.

Vom Design her passen die BMW 1er-Felgen mit sechs Doppelspeichen sehr gut zu dem schnittigen Muster des Gesamtfahrzeugs. Im Inneren sorgen sechs Airbags, ein Bordcomputer , ABS , DSC, elektrische Fensterheber, ein BMW 1er- Radio und vieles mehr für Sicherheit und Fahrvergnügen. BMW 1er- Winterreifen sind genauso schnell besorgt wie BMW 1er-Original-Teile zum Nachrüsten. Der BMW 1er-Preis liegt bei den Diesel - Neuwagen im Schnitt um die 30.000 Euro, bei den Benzinern, z. Fraticídio por herança, o desfalque do traidor, o estelionato nato, o tráfico no sangue, a falsificação da verdadeira prostituição, o assalto mortal, o viver da profanação de túmulo, a cova onde se enterram os caçadores do tesouro de tolo. Tudo por dinheiro. O engraçado é que um mané rouba uma caixa de bolacha Maria, um litro de cinzano e meio cacho de banana podre pra dar de comer aos barrigudinhos e puxa uma cana braba, no entanto, inexplicavelmente somem 40 bilhões de dólares num dia no movimento das bolsas e não tem ninguém pra prender. No mundo, podres de rico tentam evitar que pobres de dar dó venham passar a flanela imunda no parabrisa limpo. A classe média só está em alta nos países baixos. No Brasil, ela só serve para servir o governo. Nós, poetas e leitores, obviamente, estamos sem nenhum tostão. E se ninguém o tem, onde ele estará? Existe dinheiro no além? Em marte também?
